Birthday Reflections - Thank you!

Have you ever started something, and it just felt right! Right time, right place?

When I first started practicing Pilates on the reformer, I knew it was pretty special in the movement department - I immediately got results and my body loved it! It felt so right for me at this time of my life and having had a long history of fitness, this was just what I was looking for! We were living in Brisbane at the time, so I got the chance to experience plenty and build my personal foundations in practice and critiquing the Pilates business.

As some of you know I have been in the fitness game (industry) a little while now and have travelled to many amazing studios / gyms over the world, plus I have worked for a range of people who have shown me the ropes, challenged my thinking and given me dear memories in this ever-changing industry.

Out of all this, I knew exactly what type of studio and community I wanted to build and the bonus for us was the fact there really wasn’t anything on the Gold Coast. We started in Miami 6 years ago just after my third child was born. Belinda was our studio manager from the get-go and my role was back of house in marketing and accounts and eventually getting back into teaching classes.

My dream was to have a community of members who could find a benefit from Pilates with a function and results improvement focus. I needed teachers that were passionate as I often refer to Pilates & Co as my fourth child so we needed to nurture this  business and grow it! People would laugh but I actually felt like after my years of being in the industry and owning other businesses and franchises with other people, that this was like a birth of my new baby and my creation just for me!

I had a pretty clear vision on what programs and equipment I wanted. So along with Dave’s 2 cents worth the studio was born. Six years on… we’ve got through living overseas and managing from a distance for two years, Covid-19, launching our online portal, moving Miami to Burleigh’s bigger location and expanding to a second site at Bundall. And here we are. The best thing with this growth is that we are now impacting more members and teachers with more clients, more classes, more privates and small groups than ever before.
