Covid-19: How We Are Keeping Our Members Safe

Pilates & Co have been working tirelessly behind the scenes for our reopening on June 12. As a business which is “in the business” of health, the well-being of our members and staff is always our focus. Here are some of the ways we’re doing that.

Ask any trainer or instructor, and they’ll tell you one of the main reasons they started doing what they do is because they love working with people and seeing their health and life changed for the better. While we’ve all been able to keep instructing through our Online Workout Platform, we sure have missed that studio and member interaction (just like you all have). So, we’re excited to be opening again on June 12.

As a business which is “in the business” of health, the well-being of our members and staff is always our mission. And so, reviewing and upgrading our studio practices has been something we’ve been working on before reopening. Here are just some of the areas we’re focusing on to ensure your safety:

Equipment, Furniture and Layout Changes in Studio

  • Increased our physical distance between reformers with an enhanced stagger to ensure 1.5m Social distancing for members to feel added safety and trust when working out in our environment. Based on our square metre size we could host 22 people but we will ensure a max cap of 15.

  • Created reformer pod equipment packs so that each reformer zone has its own equipment accessories bundle rather than a communal repository.

  • Initially, we have reduced back-to-back classes to allow for deeper cleans and reduce changeover social distancing which could cause congestion as well as creating an instructor-led changeover policy.

  • Mouth tap removed from water bubbler, with the option to fill bottles only, although we encourage you to bring pre-filled bottles from home.

  • Entry gate will now be permanently left ajar to prevent knob and latch touching.

  • The removal of waiting area chairs or any items not in high use/high touch that are not required in the studio.

Studio Cleaning and Hygiene

  • Everything will be wiped down between classes, after a consultation or use.

  • We’ve installed GymSafe (sanitiser) in the studio and bathroom/changerooms.

  • Cleaning will be increased and checks after every class.

  • Will use GymSafe in portable Spray bottles per pod for post-class complete clean, in conjunction with the disinfectant wipes already provided in the studio.

  • Instructors will do additional spray down between classes.

  • Studio floors and stair rails to be wiped down between classes and this will be monitored on a recording sheet daily.

  • Sanitising hands will now be compulsory for members and staff entering the studio.

  • Members and staff offered but not compulsory face masks and gloves for classes.

  • Cleaning staff will use masks and gloves provided where relevant.

  • Upgrades to the Studio

  • We’ve cleaned and repainted all the studio walls, bathroom floor and walls.

  • Upgraded fittings and fixtures - in showers, mirror, toilet seat and toilet roll holder.

  • Supplied both hand sanitiser and soap washing options as well additional disposable hand towels should users wish to hold this to turn toilet door locks and taps.

  • Repainted and Reinstalled safety slip grip on steps to enhance safety and potentially reduce the need for use of handrail.

  • Outdoor waiting area picnic table has been repainted.

Exercise is so important to mental well-being, and regular visits to a studio or gym will be so beneficial for everyone post-isolation because of this. We want you, our members, to trust and know that we’re doing everything to provide you with the safest environment for this.
